Little Harbor Yachts
Author: admin

If anyone out there lives in New Zealand, can you describe if and how it has changed since 1993?
Do you still have “Dairies” as convenience stores? Is Rotorua still bubbling? Do people still commute by ferry from the nearest island in Auckland? Politically speaking, what is the current relationship between Pakehas and Maories. Did I spell that right? I believe that the current “natives” were preceeded by a ferocious tribe with a similar name. I think they pronounced it MA OR I or something like that.
I really miss the friendly people and taking a yacht out of Auckland’s harbour to pick one of the hundreds of little islands with it’s own little natural safe harbor to stay the night. I miss fishing the bottom for snapper to cook up on the beach. I miss New Zealand!
I appreciate any information you can give me.
THANKS MATE!
Yes we still call it Dairies, Rotorua still stinks like rotton eggs and is bubbling everywhere even parts of the road cave due to thermal springs and have to be cornered off with a bit of tape. yes we still go by ferry to the nearest island i catch the ferry to work in auckland every morning not from a island from north Auckland gulf Harbour tho which is the place where they held the world golf a few years ago, relationship between our natives still the same i guess??? and summer is nearly here with a hot day at the beach on xmas. and yes you spelt it right, i moved away from new zealand for two years and missed it so so so so so much and came back about two years ago and i will never move again. if you miss it so much come back!?

Made the Harbor $11.98 On first listen, the debut from Mountain Man, an indie folk trio formed by singer/songwriters Molly Erin Sarle, Alexandra Sauser-Monnig, and Amelia Randall, sounds like a record of its time, especially amidst the current crop of bearded, northwest folkies (Fleet Foxes), Midwest romancers (Bon Iver), and English new traditionalists (Laura Marling). While Made the Harbor can hold its head high amongst the works of such company, its charms are drawn from a much deeper well. A rustic blend of Revival-era Gillian Welch, early Watersons, and late-’50s Greenwich Village folk siblings the Kossoy Sisters, Made the Harbor feels more like a field recording than a studio effort. Recorded in a turn-of-the-20th-century ice cream parlor, the 13 tracks are willfully austere, slow, steady, and verdant, turning to animals and nature as metaphors for any actual human interaction. Every little throat clearing, foot shuffle, and distant highway semi has been left intact, a trick that in lesser artists’ hands could have come off as presumptuous or slight. All three women possess voices that are simple, plain, and effortless, and that is the glue that holds this debut together. The songs (highlights include “Animal Tacks,” “Soft Skin,” and “River”), never ramble on too long, the melodies feel timeless, and the tasteful polyphony never feels calculated, resulting in a very old-sounding and very good collection of modern Appalachian folk songs. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi |
